Motika film-coated tablets are a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient Montelukast Sodium. Montelukast belongs to a class of medications called leukotriene receptor antagonists. Leukotrienes are chemicals the body releases when an individual breathes in an allergen, like pollen, leading to inflammation, constriction of the airways, and production of mucus in the lungs.

This drug is mostly used to treat asthma and to prevent bronchospasms (constriction of the airways) in adults and children aged 2 years and older. It helps control and prevent the symptoms related to asthma such as coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness. This medicine is also effective for the relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, or hay fever, in adults and children aged 6 months and older.
