Primary Use:
Moderate to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Also Used For:
Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA), Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (PJIA), Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA), Systemic Sclerosis-associated Interstitial Lung Disease (SSc-ILD), and other specialist-approved indications

Patients inadequately controlled with methotrexate, conventional DMARDs, or TNF inhibitors
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
Serious infections, tuberculosis reactivation, liver toxicity, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, gastrointestinal perforation, hypersensitivity reactions. Regular CBC, LFT, and infection monitoring required
Avoid If:
Active serious infection, hypersensitivity to tocilizumab, untreated TB, severe uncontrolled liver disease (unless specialist-directed
Interactions:
Methotrexate: Increased infection risk. Corticosteroids: Higher immunosuppression. TNF inhibitors (e.g., adalimumab): Avoid combination due to infection risk. Warfarin: May alter anticoagulant effect; monitor INR. Statins (atorvastatin, simvastatin): May reduce statin levels. Omeprazole: Reduced drug exposure possible. Hormonal contraceptives: Effectiveness may decrease.
