Dapagliflozin and Metformin work synergistically to manage type 2 diabetes. Dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, blocks the reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, leading to increased glucose excretion and reduced blood sugar levels. It lowers blood glucose by promoting the elimination of glucose through urine. Metformin, a biguanide, primarily acts by suppressing glucose production in the liver, enhancing insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and reducing intestinal glucose absorption. It inhibits gluconeogenesis and increases glucose uptake in muscles and fat cells, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
