Uses
Primary Use:
Treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with delayed gastric emptying and functional dyspepsia.
Also Used For:
Selected symptoms associated with chronic gastritis, including post-meal fullness, upper abdominal discomfort, nausea, and heartburn, when prescribed.
Who May Benefit:
Adults experiencing persistent indigestion or symptoms related to reduced gastric motility after appropriate medical assessment.
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
Do not use to self-treat unexplained or persistent abdominal symptoms. Seek medical assessment for severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, blood in vomit, or black stools. Itopride may be unsuitable when increased gastrointestinal movement could be harmful, such as in gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation.
Avoid If:
Allergic to itopride or any tablet ingredient, or if you have gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation unless a specialist specifically directs treatment.
Interactions:
Anticholinergic medicines may reduce its effect. Because it changes gastrointestinal motility, it may affect the absorption of some oral medicines, particularly modified-release products. Tell your pharmacist about all medicines you take.
