How should I take this medication?

Uses
Primary Use:
Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Also Used For:
Combination therapy when treatment with metformin or a sulfonylurea alone is insufficient.
Who May Benefit:
Patients with Type 2 diabetes requiring stronger blood sugar control than can be achieved with a single oral antidiabetic medication.
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
May cause severe hypoglycemia, especially in elderly patients or those who skip meals. Metformin carries a rare risk of lactic acidosis. Monitor kidney function regularly.
Avoid If:
Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, metabolic acidosis, or allergy to glibenclamide or metformin.
Interactions:
Insulin, alcohol, corticosteroids, diuretics, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, NSAIDs, certain antibiotics, and antifungal medications may alter blood glucose control or increase side effects.
