• Gastrointestinal: Constipation, loose stools (diarrhea), mild upper abdominal cramping, nausea, or a sense of repletion/bloating. • Stool Discoloration: A dark green or pitch-black coloration of the stool occurs frequently. This is completely normal and harmless, caused by unabsorbed iron passing safely through the GI tract. • Note: Unlike liquid ferrous sulfate, iron polymaltose complex does not cause external teeth staining
