Uses
Primary Use:
Rheumatoid arthritis and severe psoriasis.
Also Used For:
Psoriatic arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, ectopic pregnancy, Crohn's disease, systemic lupus erythematosus (selected cases), and various malignancies (e.g., leukemia, lymphoma, osteosarcoma).

Patients requiring long-term immune modulation or treatment of rapidly dividing abnormal cells.
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
May cause severe bone marrow suppression, liver toxicity, lung toxicity, serious infections, kidney impairment, and fetal harm. Regular monitoring of CBC, liver function, and renal function is required.
Avoid If:
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe liver disease, severe kidney impairment, significant bone marrow suppression, active serious infection, or known hypersensitivity to methotrexate.
Interactions:
NSAIDs: May increase methotrexate toxicity. Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole: Increased risk of bone marrow suppression. Penicillins: May reduce methotrexate clearance. Proton Pump Inhibitors: May increase methotrexate levels. Leflunomide: Increased risk of liver toxicity. Alcohol: Increased risk of hepatotoxicity. Live vaccines: Increased risk of infection.
