Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
May cause low blood pressure (dizziness, fainting) especially when starting treatment Can cause swelling in feet, ankles, or legs (edema) May lead to headache, flushing, or fatigue Use caution if you have liver disease (dose adjustment may be needed) Avoid standing up too quickly to prevent dizziness
Avoid If:
You are allergic to amlodipine or other calcium channel blockers You have very low blood pressure (hypotension) You have severe aortic stenosis (heart valve narrowing) You are taking it without a doctor’s prescription
Interactions:
Other blood pressure medicines → may cause excessive BP drop Grapefruit juice → can increase drug levels and side effects Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (some antifungals, antibiotics) → may increase effects NSAIDs (painkillers like ibuprofen) → may reduce BP-lowering effect Simvastatin → increased risk of side effects (dose limits may apply)
