Warnings & interactions

Warnings:

May cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when used with insulin or other anti-diabetic medicines. Can lead to lactic acidosis (rare but serious) due to metformin, especially in people with kidney problems. Use with caution if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or severe dehydration. May cause vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use (metformin component).
