Tagipmet XR is a combination of Sitagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor, and Metformin, a biguanide, used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagliptin increases insulin release and decreases glucagon levels in the blood, while Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity. This combination helps in better glycemic control when diet and exercise alone do not suffice., Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, upper respiratory tract infections, and skin reactions. Serious side effects may include lactic acidosis, pancreatitis, and vitamin B12 deficiency.
