Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that inhibits the gastric H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme in parietal cells, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion. It provides rapid, potent, and long-lasting acid suppression compared to proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy.
