Uses

Primary Use:

Treatment of chronic Hepatitis C infection in adults.

Also Used For:

Treatment of Hepatitis C across all major genotypes (1–6). Treatment of patients with compensated cirrhosis and, in certain cases, decompensated cirrhosis when used in combination with other medications as prescribed by a specialist.

Who May Benefit:

Adults diagnosed with chronic Hepatitis C. Patients infected with HCV genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

Warnings & interactions

Warnings:

May cause liver-related side effects, especially in patients with advanced liver disease. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation risk if co-infection is present; screening is required before starting treatment.

Avoid If:

You are allergic to sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, or any component of the tablet. You are taking amiodarone (risk of serious slow heart rate).

Interactions:

Amiodarone → risk of serious bradycardia (dangerously slow heart rate). Rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, St. John’s Wort → reduce effectiveness of treatment.
