Primary Use:
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, according to the doctor's diagnosis and local resistance patterns.
Also Used For:

Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
Not effective against viral infections such as common cold or flu. Complete the prescribed course unless the doctor advises otherwise. Fluoroquinolones can rarely cause tendon inflammation/rupture, peripheral neuropathy, CNS effects, and serious allergic reactions. Stop and seek medical advice for severe tendon pain/swelling, numbness/tingling, severe rash, or significant diarrhea. Pediatric use requires careful medical justification.
Avoid If:
Allergy to ciprofloxacin or other quinolones Previous serious fluoroquinolone-related tendon problems Concomitant tizanidine use Use in children/pregnancy unless specifically prescribed after risk-benefit assessment
Interactions:
Separate ciprofloxacin from antacids and supplements containing calcium, iron, magnesium or zinc, as they can reduce absorption. Important interactions also include tizanidine, warfarin, certain antiarrhythmics and some diabetes medicines.
