Cipralex (Escitalopram) should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Escitalopram can cross the placenta, and use during late pregnancy has been associated with certain risks to the newborn, including temporary withdrawal symptoms and, rarely, breathing or feeding difficulties. However, untreated depression or anxiety during pregnancy can also pose risks to both the mother and baby.

Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
Take only as prescribed by a healthcare professional. May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in some children, adolescents, and young adults, particularly when starting treatment or changing the dose. Can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or impaired concentration in some people. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without medical advice, as withdrawal symptoms may occur. Use with caution in people with liver disease, seizure disorders, bleeding disorders, or a history of Bipolar Disorder.
Avoid If:
You are allergic to Escitalopram or any ingredient in the tablet. You are currently taking, or have recently taken, a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor. Your doctor has advised against its use due to certain heart rhythm conditions or other medical concerns.
Interactions:
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (serious interaction risk) Other antidepressants, including Fluoxetine and Sertraline Blood thinners such as Warfarin Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Ibuprofen Migraine medications in the triptan class Herbal products containing St. John's Wort Alcohol may worsen certain side effects such as drowsiness and impaired judgment.
