Uses
Primary Use:
Treatment of treatment-resistant schizophrenia in patients who have not responded adequately to other antipsychotic medications.
Also Used For:
Reducing the risk of recurrent suicidal behavior in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Treatment of psychosis associated with Parkinson's Disease when other treatment options are ineffective or not tolerated.
Who May Benefit:
Adults with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. Patients who have experienced inadequate results from at least two other antipsychotic medications.
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
Requires regular blood tests to monitor white blood cell counts due to the risk of agranulocytosis (a serious reduction in infection-fighting white blood cells).
Avoid If:
You are allergic to Clozapine or any of its ingredients. You have a history of clozapine-induced agranulocytosis or severe blood disorders. You are unable to undergo regular blood monitoring.
Interactions:
Other medications that cause drowsiness, including Alprazolam and other sedatives, may increase sedation and breathing risks. Alcohol can significantly increase drowsiness and dizziness.
