Uses
Primary Use:
Treatment of neuropathic pain and adjunctive treatment of partial seizures.
Also Used For:
Painful diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, central pain and other specified neuropathic pain conditions.
Who May Benefit:
Adults with clinically diagnosed neuropathic pain and patients requiring gabapentin for seizure control.
Warnings & interactions
Warnings:
May cause drowsiness and dizziness. Use caution when driving. Dose adjustment may be required in kidney disease. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Avoid If:
Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to gabapentin or its ingredients.
Interactions:
Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium can reduce gabapentin absorption; separate administration by at least 2 hours. CNS depressants, including opioids and alcohol, may increase sedation and breathing-related risks.
