Uses

Primary Use:

Treatment of chronic heart failure (NYHA Class II–IV)

Also Used For:

Sometimes used in guideline-directed HF management; not standard for hypertension first-line

Who May Benefit:

Patients with weakened heart pumping function, previous HF hospitalization, symptomatic HF despite standard therapy

Warnings & interactions

Warnings:

Risk of angioedema, hypotension, renal impairment, hyperkalemia; contraindicated in pregnancy

Avoid If:

History of angioedema, pregnancy, severe liver disease, concurrent ACE inhibitor use (within 36 hours)

Interactions:

ACE inhibitors (avoid within 36 hrs), potassium supplements (↑K+ risk), NSAIDs (renal risk), lithium (toxicity risk), aliskiren (contraindicated in diabetes)
